The Texan's Little Secret Reviews

2019-04-30 09:41 Baron is back to the Roughneck ranch to look after her ailing father but antsy about coming across Luke Nobel, the ranch manager of her family ranch and also the man she loved and the one who broke her heart all those years ago! Luke is now widowed and father to an adorable two year old. Seeing Luke with his daughter brings back painful memories, ones which Carly is desperate to hide at all costs. Staying away is the only option but the thing she doesn't take into account, their mutual attraction for each other, is back to test them once again!I enjoy reading cowboy stories set on big ranches with a lifestyle completely different from my own. I live in the city and it's very calming to read about vast countrysides, big ranches with horses, rugged cowboys and strong women who handle their home as well as work the ranch. The cover is sweet and the little girl so adorable. The blurb is catchy and manages to capture the interest of the readers. In The Texan's Little Secret Barbara takes the readers to the Roughneck Ranch and introduces a new character from the Baron family. Prominent, respected and a big family, the Barons are a varied yet loving family. The settings are beautifully described and create a picture in the minds of the readers. I could visualize the main house and the ranch. The characterization is fluidly done and although I could feel that I was missing the stories of some characters like Carly's sisters' Lizzie and Savannah but still this did not affect my interest in the current story much.I enjoyed the family reunion. The continuing story of the search of Carly's mother is taken up in this book also. It is developed a little and then left to be continued in the next book in the series. The story of Carly and Luke is sweet but very predictable. Barbara's writing style is crisp and fluid. She takes the readers right into the middle of the story and is a good narrator.Although, overall, Barbara manages to hold the interest of the reader but still I got a bit bored in some places. I felt that the Carly and Luke angle was developing very slowly and the same arguments were being given again and again. In the second part, everything is wrapped up a bit hurriedly. Suddenly Carly is seeking explanation from Luke for some misunderstanding rather than forming an opinion already like she always does. Also I didn't connect with the intimate scenes. Carly and Luke know each other too well but are still caught up in the past. They have their own fears and disappointments. With a strong and unresolved past, I expected more clashes of interest and more emotional turmoil in the story. Instead all the action feels a bit passive and Carly and Luke never once look like they have finally showed their emotions a cent percent.Overall, I loved the settings and the characters. The story of the search for Carly's mother is very intriguing. A sweet romance which will make a fitting leisure read, I give The Texan's Little Secret 3.5 out of 5. I received the ARC to read and review from the publishers, Harlequin and from Netgalley. I am very thankful to them for introducing me to this book. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

This has to be one of the sweetest Romances I have had the pleasure to review. First of who can go wrong with a really good cowboy story written on a ranch. I loved how this plot line was such a big pull on the family side . Family seems to be the main focus of this plot line and I for once absolutely loved it . Once again the characters manage to blow you out of the water this series just gets better with every book . This one is all about second chances with a love that is lost once but rediscovered again , Carly is such a head strong character and its hard not to have a real love /hate relationship with this girl . But she has her reasons for the way she acts . She puts on a tough front in front of her family but Luke can see right through that little game she seems to have going on . She tries to act like she is the wild child and everyone in her family believe that . But deep down she is only looking to try and fit into the world , To find her place and where she belongs. Luke knows she belongs with him but will she ever realise the same ?Luke is the boy from the wrong side of the tracks who has had to fight extremely hard for what he has in life . He has grown up poor and had nothing growing up and is trying to become the man he has always wanted to be. He feel in love with Carly as a young adult but things changed and they found themselves apart . Life moves on and he gets married and has a baby girl . Carly's father has an accident and this brings her home to tend to her fathers needs . When she comes home she realises that her first love Luke is the farm manager and she finds this extremely hard to deal with , as she is still in love the man . Thing happen and the pair finds themselves fighting against there feelings for one another . Will love find a way ? Or will this pair be doomed from the start ? The author Barbara's writing is fantastic she has a way of making you feel as though you are right there in the story . And doesn't really leave you hanging for the next story . Although I for one can not wait for its release .

Is Carly really happy in Houston or does she want to be home, but if she comes home eventually she will have to tell Luke about her little secret? When I started reading this story I was a little lost but as I kept reading I was able to follow the story and really liked it. I do have to say that I have to go back to the first book so I can better understand this series but even though I didn’t the storyline was captivating. I was able to connect with the characters and I liked them. This story is about getting a second chance at love sure when she left him they were only young adults but they were in love but because of his pride and her coming up with her own story they were torn apart. Now they have the chance to get back together and talk about what happened and she will have to eventually tell him about what she as been suffering with. Carly Baron left her home because she didn’t want to be working in the family business and because of her decision her father didn’t pay any of her education. She was able to do everything on her own but now her dad needs her at home so here she is back at the Roughneck Ranch. She knows that now that she is home she will eventually run into the ranch manger but she is going to try to not run into him. But she also had something else on her mind she wanted to know if her sister’s husband was any closer with finding their mother. Her mother had left them and they had not seen or heard from her for so long and she wanted to know if it was possible that she was suffering from depression. There were so many things that Carly wanted to talk to her mother about, things that she could not ask her sisters. Luke Nobel is now the ranch manger for Roughneck Ranch but not because he asked for the job. He had a hard time while he was growing up but he did great in school. He had a great girlfriend but because of her decision he couldn’t tell anyone about their relationship. When she left him he had high hopes of going to college and the scholarship that he was awarded that was possible but then his mother lost her job. Luke ended up in the rodeo circuit but he still completed his studies and that’s when Brock Baron offered him the position. Luke had also gotten married but then his wife passed away now he was a single father of a precious 2 year old, Rosie. Carly and Luke end up seeing each other because sooner of later whether at the ranch or at her sister’s business they would end up seeing each other. Carly knew that Luke had been married and that his wife passed and he was a great father. There was only one problem she never would have thought that when she saw Rosie for the first time that she would react how she reacted. Just seeing her brought back memories, memories that were to powerful that she needed to run, run and keep away. No matter what the chemistry that they share is pulling them together and they are not going to be able to stay apart no matter what. The Texan’s Little Secret was a great read. The Baron family is a loving family and I can’t wait to see the Baron clan all happily married. The author has a creative mind and that creativity is shown in her words and how descriptive and vivid her scenes are. I do have to say that I was a little disappointed with how fast the ending happened. Luke seemed not to say too much about the secret and it was forgiven too quickly. I can’t wait to see if they are able to find their mother. I want to know why she left and never got in touch with her kids.Received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an Honest Review

Originally Reviewed For: Bodice Rippers, Femme Fatales and FantasyLooking for a sweet second chance romance? If so Barbara White Daille tells a great one.Life on a Texas Ranch is never easy but when you have three siblings and three step siblings, it's easy to get lost in the pack. Carly Baron was labeled the Wild Child growing up because it was the only way to get attention. Instead she was a lonely, confused child whose mother left when she was little and Carly never knew why. Then somehow as a teen the most handsome boy in town falls for her and for a moment Carly was in heaven. That is until she discovers he doesn't love her, he just wants a job at the ranch. Determined to make it on her own, Carly leaves town and refuses to look back. Only now she's home, her Dad has been injured, her sister is looking for their mother and the love of her life is the Ranch Foreman. Carly would love to give things a second chance but her secret is too big.. if discovered it would destroy everything.Luke Noble loved Carly with everything he had until she accused him of using her for a job on the ranch. Instead of working things out he walked away. Pride intact but with a broken heart. He managed to start over. He's now a widower with a darling daughter and the Ranch Foreman. When Carly comes back he can't help but wonder if they have a chance. Only, Carly keeps pushing him away. And on the off chance he is with his daughter, she all but faints. Luke wants Carly but he comes as a package now and Carly doesn't seem to want a family. This is just one of those stories that make you feel good. Makes you believe in second chances. Makes you believe that love is out there. Of course there is yet another overbearing dad to deal with (grrrrrr, I can't stand this character choice) but the family works and fights together. And the mystery of where's mom is a great secondary plot.If you just want to feel good.. check out this book.ShauniThis review is based on the ARC of The Texan's Little Secret,  provided by NetGalley and scheduled for release on August 5, 2014

Good story of second chances and the importance of family. Carly has come home to help take care of her dad, but she's also going to have to face Luke again. Years earlier they had parted ways when she accused him of using her to get a job on her father's ranch. Seeing him now brings back painful memories, but also the knowledge that her feelings for him never really went away.Carly was known as the wild child in her family. Everyone saw the way she was trying new and different things, but never really settling for any one thing. What they didn't see was that it was her way of trying to figure out where she fit in her world. Being with Luke had given her that sense until it all went wrong. Now that she's back she's putting on a great show of being the tough and independent wild child, but it's still hiding a world of insecurity. She's tempted to see if there is still a chance for them, but the secret that she is hiding could ruin it all. Her fears are such that she is afraid to be around Luke's daughter.Luke grew up on the poor side of town and worked hard for everything he got. He couldn't believe that Carly was really interested in him, especially when she wanted to keep their relationship secret. He wanted a job on her family's ranch so he could be closer to her and because it was a better job than working on cars. He was hurt when she accused him of using her, and rather than defend himself he just walked away. Years later he's got the job he wanted and is raising his little girl with the help of his mother. Having Carly back on the ranch shows him that he's never forgotten her. He really wants to see if they have a chance to get it right this time, but she keeps pushing him away. He's determined to break through her barriers and show her that they can have it all.The search for Carly's mother is ongoing, though Carly and Savannah are the only family members who are doing it. A few more leads have come to light, and they are pursuing them as best they can. Carly's determination has her confronting her father about what he knows, and getting frustrated by his unwillingness to talk. It will be interesting to see what the other books reveal.

Carly Baron is from a well-to-do with a working ranch called the Roughneck. When she was younger, she begun a relationship with handsome grease monkey, Luke Nobel. Just as things were getting hot an heavy between the two, Luke appears at the ranch for a job and Carly accuses Luke of using their relationship to get himself the job working for her daddy. Having no time for childish outbursts, Luke walks away leaving Carly aghast. Carly leaves the ranch to go to college and has no intentions of going back to the Roughneck to live, especially when Luke is there and Carly is keeping secrets.Years later, Carly returns to the Roughneck to help her stubborn dad recover from an illness, but returning home may be the worst decision she could ever make. Having moved on since Carly left, Luke married and was widowed. Now a single father with a beautiful two year old daughter. Facing her first love and his daughter is difficult for her in so many ways. Luke still has feelings for the spitfire but can she accept him along with his little bundle of joy?Even though it would have been better to avoid him, it's impossible to do. Everywhere there are reminders. Carly has been fighting her feelings for ages and even though she still has it bad for Luke, telling him the one thing she has kept from him and even her entire family, could make or break the fragile relationship they are attempting to regain. Can they both take the chance? When Carly come to face with one of her biggest fears, in the form of Luke's child, will she cut and run, or come clean?I truly did enjoy THE TEXAN'S LITTLE SECRET by Barbara White Daille. The premise for the story was a great one, I just wish it were longer and went more into the relationship between Luke and Carly. These two characters have so much going for them, I wanted to feel so much more for them than I did. Barbara White Daille is a great writer with wonderful ideas and great stories and she keeps me turning the pages until the very end. THE TEXAN'S LITTLE SECRET is a heartwarming tale of re-connection and forgiveness, not just forgiveness of another, but of one's self.~KIMBERLY~

3 STARS Good story, likeable characters, a mystery that ties the stories together besides them being a family. Does have a couple of love scenes that I skipped over. Carly Baron has come home to help take care of her father recover from his injury from a riding a bull. Carly has secrets. She is going to quit riding barrels in rodeos. Threatens to start riding bulls next. Her ex-boyfriend is now the manager of Roughneck. Luke Nobel is a widower with a little girl named Rosie. He is also a former rodeo champion bull rider. He is still attracted to Carly. He knows it is best to make peace with the owner's daughter. Brock Baron has been married three times. He has a lot of children. He had a accident riding a bull in senior rodeo. He is in a wheel chair with broken leg. He owns a ranch and oil company. He wants Carly back home working for him. Brock's first wife left him and his four children. Carly and her sister are trying to find their mother. They have not heard from her since she was five. Carly has lots of questions. The setting is a Texas ranch. This is a series with different writer each month writing the different stories. I was given this ebook to read for the purpose of writing a honest review of it. Net Galley and Harlequin gave it to me.

Carly is back to her town after Luke breaks her heart. She was labelled as a wild child while growing up and till now, she don’t know the reason her mother left her father. She fell in love with Luke and thought that he is the one for her but only to discover that he wants only a job at her family ranch. And now, she is back home only to discover that Luke is working for her father and he is a widower and a father to a small daughter. Luke loved Carly very much but due to his pride when Carly accused of using her to secure a job at the ranch, instead of staying, he walked away. She is back now. He wonder whether they can have another chance to be together again but its seems very slim chance as Carly keeps pushing him away and she doesn’t show any love to young child like his daughter. It was an emotional reads for me from beginning when Carly have her reason for distancing herself from her family and Luke. I can feel her heartache whenever she is with Luke in the story. Overall, it is a good story with likeable character and a twist at the end for Luke though the twist was revealed beginning of the story.

3 Adorable StarsCarly is returning back to the family ranch to help out after her father lands himself on bed rest. An easy enough task, as long as she stays away from Luke, her first love and the guy who broke her heart.Still upset over him using her to get a job with her father, Carly tries to avoid Luke at all costs, especially when he's around his adorable two year old daughter. Babies are a sore subject for Carly. Carly avoids him easily enough in the beginning however when she takes a likeness to bull riding her father won't settle for anyone else supervising his little girl than Luke. The two battle feeling for one another throughout the course of the book, until finally giving in. But when her father finds out and fires Luke, and secrets from Carly's past come out, the two are out to the test. ---This was a pretty good book, super easy to read. I thought the conflicts were solved super quickly and a good majority of the book is Carly battling herself on whether or not she want's to be with Luke. Overall pretty good no complaints

Carly Baron took a leave from her job to come home and help out her dad who got hurt and is in a wheelchair recovering. She dreaded coming home because she was afraid she would run into her old love. Luke Nobel is now the ranch manager and when Carly runs into him she tried to act like it didn't matter, even though it did. The years since Carly ran away from Luke he got married and had a little girl. His wife died two years ago in a accident and now he is raising his two year old as a single parent. Carly is hiding a secret from Luke but as they start to reconnect she feels she needs to tell him. This is a sweet love story.

Reading a book like this was kind of breaking me out of my routines of only picking out books that have similar background. I wouldn't normally chosen a book that had a cowboy sort of theme (Its always seemed so cheesy to me) anyways I decided to give this book a try. I really found myself enjoying this book. I loved the connection between Luke and Carly and loved the dual POV of the two. I loved the storyline and this book is well written. There was never a dull moment. Overall I really liked this was a sweet little romance that will give hope for second chances.

Carly returns to her to help her father recuperate. Luke is the ranch manager with an adorable two year old little girl. When Carly left years ago for college, her relationship with Luke ended badly. Luke wants a mama for his daughter but Carly has a secret and she doesn't think she deserves a family.Miscommunication. Secrets. The usual ingredients for a romance.
